Kanzaland Area Volleyball Stars Highlight All-State Teams

With the fall sports season practically in the books the postseason honors are being handed out. With a great season of volleyball for many Kanzaland area teams this year plenty of players highlighted the All-State teams.

In Class 1A Division I and II, it was the two teams from the area that have been dominate in volleyball for quite a while highlighting the All-State teams for Kanzaland area volleyball.

Class 1A Division I saw two Centralia Panthers earn All-State honors after their 40-5 year and third place at the state tournament. Junior outside hitter, Kaitlyn Koch earned All-State honors for the second straight year but this year it was first team honors, unlike an honorable mention her sophomore season. Koch lead the attack of the Panthers this season leading the team in kills this year. Senior, Kindal Deters also earned All-State honors earning honorable mention as an outside hitter.

For Class 1A Division II, the state champion B&B Falcons highlighted the All-State teams yet again after another stellar season. The Lady Falcons soared to another 40 win season this year (40-5) and defended their state title successfully. Falcons played great as a team but individual All-State honors were given to juniors, Laura Sudbeck, Katie Huerter and Ashley Kramer who all earned first team All-State, while senior, Haley Strathman earned honorable mention All-State. Sudbeck made it on the first team All-State for the second straight year, while Huerter and Strathman both earned second team honors last season.

The honors didn't stop there for the Lady Falcons as Coach of the Year award went to Jessica Koch and the Player of the Year award went to Laura Sudbeck.

Fellow Twin Valley League teams in Wetmore and Axtell also had players earn All-State honors. For the Cardinals a pair of seniors, earned All-State as Dana Kramer got second team honors and Alayna Noe, honorable mention honors. For the Axtell Eagles, senior Hannah Mitchell earned honorable mention honors.

In Class 2A, the Twin Valley League continued to be well represented as Washington County who finished the season 41-3 and state champs had three players earn All-State honors. Senior, Kylie Penning and sophomore, Erin Alexander both earned All-State first team honors. For the second straight year Penning earned first team honors and this time also picked up the Player of the Year award in Class 2A, too, while her coach, Laramie Jueneman was named Coach of the Year. Tigers senior, Megan Stegman also earned second team All-State honors.

The Jefferson County North Chargers, also enjoyed a great year as they finished fourth at the state tournament, finishing with a 25-16 record. The Lady Chargers were lead by two All-State players this season in juniors, Jamie Navinskey and Jacee Kramer. Navinskey and Kramer both earned first team All-State honors this year.

Two other Kanzaland area volleyball players earned honorable mention All-State honors in Class 3A and 4A. In Class 3A, Marysville Bulldog junior, Abi Degenhardt earned the honors and in Class 4A Santa Fe Trail junior, Shelby Dahl earned the honors.
