Centralia Girls & Frankfort Boys Win TVL Cross Country Titles

League titles were up for grabs on Thursday at Cool Springs golf course for the Twin Valley League cross country meet and the competition was strong all around. 

Centralia Panther girls and Frankfort boys claimed the TVL team titles, while runners from Axtell and Valley Heights posted the best teams to win the individual League crowns. 

The race for the League title was tight atop the boys team standings as Frankfort finished with 37 points to edge Axtell by two points to take League and give Axtel second place. Wetmore, Washington County, Valley Heights, Centralia and Onaga finished out the team standings in third through seventh. 

For the girls competition Centralia finished with 15 points to take first place by 22 points as Onaga took second and Valley Heights and Washington County finished third and fourth. 

Centralia girls were led by four Top 10 finishes on the day as Sadie Jones (22:38.13), Tamra Jones (23:39.69) and Emma Holthaus (23:51.75) placed second, third and fourth, while Kaitlyn Becker (24:47.35) took tenth place. Courtney Huerter and Madison Boeckman placed 11th and 20th for the lady Panthers. Dylan Boeckman led the Centralia boys placing eighth with a time of 18:36.19, while Ransom Engelken finished 16th.

Frankfort boys on their way to the League title were led by Broderic Shirley who with a time of 17:49.08 took third place, while Colton Parthemer ran to a sixth place finish posting a time of 18:31.06. Brandon Anderson and Garrett Dalinghaus earned 11th and 17th place finishes for the Wildcats. In the girls race Amburley Kokoruda placed 12th for Frankfort, while Lauren Stewart finished 16th. 

The top boy’s time belonged to Valley Heights Mustang, Adrian Pishny who posted a time of 17:22.07 to win the TVL title, while his teammate, Alex Hardin with a time of 18:03.45 took fourth. Ilexus Rose led the lady Mustangs placing fifth with a time of 24:12.96, while DeAndra Woodyard finished 15th and Miranda Ohlde placed 17th. 

Axtell Eagle, Oliva Kuckelman claimed the top girl’s performance of the day as she posted a time of 21:54.21 to win the TVL title. While in the boys competition the Eagles were led by Oliver Schmitz who with a time of 18:16.96 placed fifth and Burke Deters finished seventh behind a time of 18:31.19. Blake Porting and Quinn Buessing posted finishes of 13th and 14th place for the Eagles, while Simon Schmitz finished 18th. 

Wetmore Cardinals were led by Aaron Achten who with time of 17:27.62 took second place in the boy’s competition, while Jonathan Hladky-Bailey, Beau Henninger and Chanler Morfitt finished 12th, 15th and 20th. McKayla Henry ran to a 13th place in the girl’s race for the Cardinals. 

A trio of Onaga Buffaloes finished in the Top 10 of the girls TVL race as Halie Jeannerret (24:41.824), Cheyenne Turner (24:43.74) and Belinda Ames (24:44.96) placed sixth, seventh and eighth. 

Washington County Tigers had Emily Meyer with a time of 24:45.92 earn ninth in the girls race, while Eric Miller behind a time of 18:50.62 placed ninth in the boys race and Tyler Simmons with a time of 18:54.61 took tenth place. In the girl’s race, Kirsten Kingsbury and Rachael Wood ran to 18th and 19th place finishes for the Tigers, while Malachi L'Ecuyer finished 19th in the boy’s race. 

Troy Trojan, Holly Williams ran to a 14th place finish in the girl’s race at the TVL Meet to lead Troy.
