Delaware Valley League Hands Out Post Season Football Honors

The Delaware Valley League football season as come to a close for all the teams and they have handed out postseason awards. Four teams from the DVL made the playoffs this season and many others challenged for the playoffs this season.

In the DVL North it was the Riverside Cyclones capturing the division title with a 9-2 record overall on the season, but it was the ACCHS Tigers tallying the most All-League players out of the North division. The Tigers registered nine All-Leaguers and nine more honorable mention honors in the DVL North. On offense, RB - Ramsey Hundley, Guard - Ben Chalfant, Center - Quaid Haase earned All-League first team. While on defense the Tigers saw Quaid Haase, Ben Chalfant and Ramsey Hundley all earn first team defense at DE and Nose on top of their offense positions. Kyle Chew also earned first team All-League defense at cornerback, while Jake Hansen and Scott Brinkinsha earned first team honors at kicker and defensive specialist, respectively.

The DVL North champs, Riverside registered the second most first team players with five and 11 honorable mention all-leaguers. On offense it was RB - Drew Hoffman, TE - Kyle Studer and Dakota Pummell at offensive specialist garnering first team honors. Defensively for the Cyclones it was DT - Regan Butts and LB - Zach Halter.

Both Horton and Maur Hill-Mount Academy each finished with four first team All-League players and eight honorable mention each, also. Doniphan West took home three first team honors, Troy finished with two and Jackson Heights only one. Jackson Heights had eight honorable mention players, Troy nine and Doniphan West two.

Rest of the DVL North 1st Team All-Leauge Players: QB - Brock Hanf (MH-MA); RB - Jordan Sellers (Doniphan West); WR - Brian Scott (MH-MA); OT - Trey Dishon (Horton); OG - Preston Richter (Jackson Heights); Returner - Dakota Bayles (Horton)

DE - Mike Etinhoff (MH-MA) ; DT - Chris Tharman (Troy); LB - Jordan Sellers (Doniphan West); LB - Jay Whetstine (Troy); CB - Dakota Bayles (Horton); Punter - Brent Matthias (Horton).

In the DVL South it was McLouth that won the division crown and the Bulldogs garnered the most players earning All-League honors with 11 first team All-League players and five more honorable mention. McLouth finished the year with their first playoff appearance since 2005 and registered a playoff win, also. Leading the way was the offense for McLouth with QB - Marc Walbridge, RB - TJ Crowell, WR - Dakota Cop, OG - Matt Horton and Drew Cerny at Returner and Offensive specialist earned All-League first team honors. Defensively for the Bulldogs it was DE - Charlie Courtney, Nose - Dakota Cop, LB - Brady Sullivan and CB - Drew Cerny. Also, John Courtney and Nick McAferty earned kicker and punter first team honors.

Jefferson County North Chargers, earned the second most first team All-Leaguer's in the DVL South with nine and three more honorable mention honors. The Chargers mad the playoffs this season finishing 6-4 on the year. The Chargers saw RB - Dustin Fowler, TE - Luke Pyle, OT - Cody Rhyne and OG - Sam Gerety get first team All-League on offense. While, five players got those honors on defense for the Chargers: DE - Luke Pyle, DT - Shane Noll, LB - Dustin Fowler, S - Cory Noll and Defensive Specialist - Sam Gerety.

Pleasant Ridge registered three first team All-League players, while Valley Falls added two of their own. The Rams also got 11 players honorable mention honors, while the Dragons had five honorable mention honors. Immaculata and Oskaloosa had seven and five players earn honorable mention All-League honors.
