The Washington County Tigers battled through adversity all season and did the same against Pittsburg-Colgan in the Sectional round of the 2-1A playoffs on Friday but came up just a little short in falling 29-20.

Pitt-Colgan hit the Tigers early with a big 97-yard touchdown pass to take the initial lead but Washington County fought back and with 5:40 left in the first took an 8-7 lead on a one-yard touchdown run by Hunter Kier and the two-point conversion.

Colgan did the rest of the scoring in the first half with another touchdown pass and a touchdown run right before the half and led 22-8 at halftime.

The third quarter was scoreless but Washington County started a comeback bid in the fourth with a 96-yard drive that ended in a Jerrod Hoover one-yard touchdown run and made it 22-14. Colgan answered with another rushing touchdown to lead 29-14. Tigers didn't go away as Hoover hit Carson Talkington for a 36-yard touchdown pass with 4:34 left in the game but Colgan held Washington County out of the endzone the rest of the way to beat the Tigers 29-20.

The Tigers wrap up the season with a winning record for the third straight year finishing 8-3 and made the playoffs for the second straight year.
