JCN Sweeps McLouth to Open Up 2016-17 Season

After winning seven of their final ten games to finish up last season, the Jefferson County North Lady Chargers picked up right where they left off to open up their 2016-17 campaign Friday night taking down McLouth 55-22.

The Lady Chargers got off to a fast start offensively outscoring the Lady Bulldogs 18-6 in the first quarter with junior Ravyn Jobbins leading the way with 10 points. The JCN defense then took over in the second quarter holding McLouth to just 2 points to take a 32-8 lead into the break.

The Lady Chargers put the game away in the third quarter outscoring the Lady Bulldogs 19-10 with senior Jentry Seichepine scoring all 5 of her points in the quarter and JCN led 51-18 after three forcing a running clock the rest of the way.

Next up for JCN (1-0, 1-0 NEKL) is a matchup with Immaculata (0-1) on the road Tuesday, while McLouth (0-1, 0-1) hosts Horton (1-0, 1-0).

JCN: Ravyn Jobbins – 17, Josie Weishaar – 10, Annabelle Vaught – 10, Kaitlyn Schneider – 6, Julie Schrick – 5, Jentry Seichepine – 5, Jentri Fowler – 2.

McLouth: Haylee Weisenbach – 8, Kimi Patterson – 4, Shakarah Barfield – 4, Justina Williams – 4, Sarah Dailey – 2.

Despite having to replace all five starters off a team that went 18-5 a year ago, the Jefferson County North Chargers started off the 2016-17 season on the right foot Friday night taking down McLouth 56-27.

McLouth hung tough in the first quarter going on a 6-0 run in the final two minutes to tie the game up at 10 after the opening frame. But, the Bulldogs were held to just 4 points in the second quarter which allowed the Chargers to take a 26-14 lead into halftime backed by 11 first half points from junior Joel Abel.

The Chargers then came out of the break and put up 20 points in the third quarter to put the game out of reach as seniors Brysen Weishaar and Braden Schneider combined to score 13 points in the quarter and eventually forcing a running clock midway through the fourth.

The Chargers (1-0, 1-0 NEKL) now hit the road to take on Immaculata (0-1) Tuesday, while the Bulldogs head home to host Horton (1-0, 1-0).
