Nine Area Football Players & One Coach Honor With All-State Honors From KFBCA

The high school football season was another strong one for Northeast Kansas teams with great seasons and highly competitive games all throughout the year. With the season in the rear view mirror the postseason honors continue to be handed out and the Kansas Football Coaches Association has handed out their All-State honors. 

Nine area senior football players and one coach where choosen for All-State honors by the KFBCA as they only choose senior players from the schools that belong to the KFBCA which is around 100 out of 300 plus high schools in Kansas. 

Leading the honors for the area are the Troy Trojans who went 13-0 and won the Class 2-1A State title this year. Head Coach, Derek Jasper picked up another Coach of the Year honors for 2-1A, while Cuttar Huss was selected to the KFBCA Top 11 players and was selected both at wide receiver and defensive back for All-State honors. Reid Greaser and Wil Smith also got All-State honors from the KFBCA picking up the honors at quarterback and defensive line, respectively. 

Three other area players in Class 2-1A snagged All-State honors from the KFBCA as Braden Schneider of Jefferson County North along with Washington County Tigers, Hunter Kier and Dawson Miller all were selected. Schneider earned the honors at offensive line, while Kier and Miller picked up the honors at runningback and punter, respectively. Both Washington County and JCN made the playoffs going 8-3 and 8-2 on the year. 

A pair of Big Seven League athletes earned KFBCA All-State honors in Class 3A as David Delaney of Nemaha Central and Eric Renyer of Sabetha each picked up the honors on the defensive side of the ball at defensive back and line. The Thunder posted a 12-1 record on th year making it to the Sub-State round of the playoffs, while Sabetha finished 9-2 and made the playoffs earning a first round win. 

Class 4A-Division I features an area athlete getting All-State honors from the KFBCA as Atchison Redmen, Adam Smith earned All-State honors at defensive back. The Redmen posted a 6-3 record on the season and won the KCAL title.
