GIRLS = Jeff County North 51, Troy 12

The JCN girls started the game on a 12-0 run and never looked back in route to a 4-0 start to the season.  The Lady Chargers led 32-5 at halftime and limited Troy to just one field goal while forcing 15 turnovers.  Freshman, Josie Weishaar came off the bench and knocked down three treys while scoring a game high 15 points and Ravyn Jobbins got JCN off to a good start with 8 of her 9 in the opening quarter.

Annabelle Vaught was the "Player to Bank On" sponsored by the Citizens State Bank of Hiawatha as she scored 14 points and had 6 rebounds as well as a couple assists and four steals in the first quarter alone to set the tone for JCN (4-0).  Troy was led by Blair Weishaar with four points but the Lady Trojans dropped their third straight to fall to 1-3 on the season.

BOYS = Troy 57, Jeff County North 44

In a battle of unbeatens, Troy jumped to an 11-0 lead at Winchester, before JCN responded and scored the next nine points.  The Chargers took momentum into the second quarter behind senior, Braden Schneider and posted a 28-21 advantage at the break.  Schneider had 11 of his 18 first half points in the second stanza and the Chargers connected on four shots behind the arc in the half.  Yet, Troy drastically improved their inside play and rebounding on both ends of the floor and would outscore JCN 36-16 in the second half to pull away for the 13-point road win.  Troy was up 37-36 entering the fourth quarter and used a 9-2 run to stretch a more comfortable margin.

The Chargers (3-1) played their starting five the entire game and seemed to lose steam in the second half, when they committed 9 of their 12 turnovers on the night and lost the rebounding advantage.  JCN also hurt themselves at the foul-stripe making only 2 of 9 free throws.  Schneider finished with a game high 24 points while Brayden Summers and Joel Abel each added 6.

Troy got 20 points from Wil Smith, including 12 in the second half as he earned Citizens State Bank and Trust Company of Hiawatha "Player to Bank On" honors.  Brody Winder added 12 points and Reid Greaser scored 11 and Cuttar Huss had 9 as the Trojans improved to 4-0 with each win coming by double digits.  Wyatt Huss finished with 7 points and made the only three of the game for Troy in the fourth quarter.  Despite making only 1 of 7 free throws in the first half, the Trojans ended the night 10 of 20 at the charity line and committed only five turnovers in the game.
