Marysville Wrestling Continues Strong Season Winning Beatrice Invite

It's been a dominate season on the mats for the Marysville Bulldogs and that continued out of the holiday break on Saturday as the Bulldogs laid claim to other tournament title this year winning the Beatrice Invite. 

Marysville wrestlers amassed 245.5 total points to win the nine team competition by 69.5 competing against competition from Nebraska. 

A quartet of Bulldog grapplers notched first place finishes on the day, while 11 of the 14 wrestlers in action on for Marysville finished fourth or better on at the Beatrice Invite. The most wins on the day by a single Marysville wrestler came from Joey Bockin who went 6-0 to win the 113lbs weight class. Bockin had three pinfall wins (1:04, 3:25 and 3:00), a technical fall win 17-1 and a forfeit victory. Jacob Mintzmyer continued his strong individual season going 5-0 at 170lbs to take first place registering three pinfall wins in 45 and 42 seconds and 2:31, while also also winning via major decision twice with 8-0 and 9-1 scores. At 182lbs it was Jacob Stryker that earned a first place finish for Marysville posting a 4-0 day on the mats with three pinfall wins (3:37, :44 and 2:37) and a major decision win (14-4). Jonny Crome also went 4-0 on the mats for the Bulldogs to win the 120lbs title recording a pair of pinfall wins in 42 and 56 seconds and also won via an 8-7 decision and 12-0 major decision. 

Gabe Capp (138lbs), Nick Ackerman (195lbs) and Caleb Vogelsberg (220lbs) all posted a second place finish for the Bulldogs at the Beatrice Invite. Capp posted a 4-1 mark on the day at 138lbs recording a pinfall win (1:30), 3-2 decision victory, 18-5 major decision win and 20-5 technical fall victory. Ackerman also notched a 4-1 mark on the mats for Marysville taking second at 195lbs behind three pinfall wins (1:39, 1:31 and 3:32) and a 5-2 decision. It was a 2-1 day for Vogelsberg at 220lbs to take second place posting wins by pin in 4:20 and 4:28. 

A pair of third place finishes for Marysville were earned by Ethan Crownover (126lbs) and Storm Slupianek (152lbs). Crownover posted a 3-1 mark on the mats, while Slupianek had a 3-2 day in action. Fourth place finishes were earned by Jakob Snellings (106lbs) and Seth Mooradian (285lbs) as they both registered 2-3 records on the mats on Saturday. 

Also in action at the Beatrice Invite for Marysville were Matt Lindhorst (160lbs) and Noah Ackerman (145lbs) who each picked up one win on the day and finished sixth place in their weight classes. Brycen Detimore (132lbs) was also in action taking seventh place on the day for the Bulldogs. 

The wrestling season continues on Thursday, January 12th for Marysville as they travel to Clay Center for a North Central Kansas League dual on the mats.
