JCN Girls Invitational Championship – JCN vs. Rossville
Down three with under 10 seconds to play and Jefferson County North’s best shooter from the perimeter fouled out, the Chargers needed someone to step up in order to force overtime.
Junior Ravyn Jobbins put it on her shoulders, hitting a 3-pointer in the right corner at the buzzer to tie the game up at 41 and force overtime in the JCN Invitational Championship.
But, the No. 7-ranked team in 3A was too much in the extra period, as Rossville outscored JCN 12-4 in overtime to take the tournament title 53-45 Saturday afternoon.
The Lady Dawgs dominated the opening eight minutes forcing six JCN turnovers while leading scorer Amanda Hill notched 7 points giving Rossville a 14-8 lead after one.
The Chargers then held Hill to just 2 points in the second quarter while outscoring the Lady Dawgs 9-6 to trim the deficit to just 3 at halftime.
The lead was then trimmed to 31-29 entering the fourth before Jobbins 3-pointer to tie and force overtime.
In the overtime all 12 of the Lady Dawgs points came from the free throw line, going 12-for-16 in the period while hitting 27 of 44 at the charity stripe in the game.
Rossville’s Amanda Hill had another stellar performance delivering her second 20-point game of the tournament pouring in a game-high 27 points on a 12 of 15 effort from the line.

3rd Place Game – Valley Falls vs. Pleasant Ridge
After a tough one-point loss to Rossville in the tournament semifinals Friday night, the Valley Falls girls’ basketball team rebounded with an impressive 49-30 over Pleasant Ridge to claim third place.
The Dragons started off on a 14-1 run in the first quarter behind 6 points from sophomore Reagan Kirkwood, but the Rams responded with a 7-0 run to close out the frame to trail by just six after one.
Valley Falls came right back in the second with Kirkwood going on a personal 7-0 run while scoring 9 points in the quarter to give the Dragons a 29-20 lead at the break.
The Dragons extended their lead to 16 after three quarters after holding the Rams to just four points in the third and in the fourth forced five turnovers to put the game away.
Kirkwood delivered one of the best performances of the tournament notching a game-high 24 points in the win going 7 of 10 from the free throw line which marked her second game of the week with 15 or more points.
