Holton Wrestling Takes Sixth at Baldwin Invitational

The wrestling season continued for the Holton Wildcats on Saturday as they took to the mats competing at the Baldwin Invitational against 17 other schools and earned a sixth place team finish. 

The Wildcats 124.5 total points only 3.5 points away from a Top five team finish on the day, while Clay Center won the tournament with 186.5 total points. Eight of the Wildcats nine grapplers in action on the day finished with an eighth place finish or better to help them finish sixth as a team. 

A 4-0 day at 170lbs by Tyler Price lead him to a first place finish as a he racked up victories by a 8-0 major decision, 18-2 technical fall, 2-1 decision and pinfall (1:26). 

Tel Wittmer wrestled his way to a second place finish at 220lbs going 3-1 with three pinfall wins and falling in the Championship bout by a tough 5-1 decision. A 4-1 day brought home a third place finish for Kyler Tannahill at 285lbs as he recorded all four of his wins by pinfall. 

At 120lbs Kolby Roush earned a fourth place finish by going 2-2, while both Taygen Fletcher (113lbs) and Cael Jackson (145lbs) each snagged fifth place finishes after going 2-2 and 3-2 on the mats. Cameron Smith went 3-1 and finished seventh at 106lbs bouncing back after a first round loss, while Lawson Henry took eighth place at 132lbs going 2-3. Logan Cannon was also in action for Holton competing at 160lbs going 1-2 in action. 

Wildcats are set to the mats again on Thursday, February 2nd at home in a Double Dual competition.
