For the 25th straight year the best of eastern Kansas and the best of western Missouri senior wrestlers will face off on the mats in the Metro Classic "Battle at the Border" and a trio of area grapplers have been selected to compete in the competition representing Team Kansas. 

ACCHS Tiger senior, Hunter Ostertag along with Royal Valley Panther seniors, Jacob Box and Blake Garrison each have been selected to compete for Team Kansas at the "Battle at the Border" competition set for Tuesday, March 7th at 6:30pm on the campus of Kansas City Kansas Community College. 

Ostertag finished his wrestling career by capturing the Class 3-2-1A State title this year at 138lbs and posting a 36-3 record. Hunter won several tournaments during the year including winning a Big Seven League title at 138lbs and was a four-time State qualifier in his high school career taking fifth at State in junior year at 132lbs, winning the State title at 120lbs his sophomore campaign and as a freshman at 106lbs took second place. 

Box finished his wrestling career at Royal Valley with a fifth place finish at State in Class 3-2-1A this year going 41-5 at 195lbs, while capturing a Big Seven League title during the season and several other top performances. Jacob qualified for State three times in his high school career at Royal Valley. 

After not wrestling his freshman year, Garrison earned a sixth place finish at State for Royal Valley at 220lbs in Class 3-2-1A in his senior season finishing the year 38-7 on the mats. Blake registered several top performances throughout the season including second place at 220lbs at the Big Seven League tournament. 

Tickets for the 25th annual 2017 Metro Classic "Battle at the Border" are on sale now and can be purchased from the wrestlers for $8 or can be purchased at the door for $10 the night of the competition on Tuesday, March 7th at Kansas City Kansas Community College.
