The Hanover Wildcat girls and boys pounced on a double dip at the State basketball tournament for the second consecutive year for both teams to go to State in Class 1A-Division I. Hanover girls earned the win over Linn 55-39 in the 1A-DI Sub-State Championship at Clifton-Clyde and the Wildcat boys beat Pike Valley 56-36.

In the girls contest Linn worked to an 11-10 lead after the first quarter but Hanover answered with a 20-11 second quarter and took control of the game with the second quarter going into halftime up 30-22. The Wildcats wasted no time in the second half in securing the game in their favor pouring 23 points in the third quarter and only giving up six points to Linn in the frame. Macy Doebele led Hanover with 19 points, while Ashton Jueneman chipped in 14 points in the win, while Linn was led by Karsyn Smith.

Linn wrapped up their season with a 13-10 mark, while Hanover with the win improved to 20-2 on the year and punched their ticket to the 1A-DI State tournament. Lady Wildcats will be making their sixth trip to State and second consecutive.

The boy’s championship game had Hanover take the early lead going up 16-12 after the first quarter and the Wildcats continually added to that lead over Pike Valley throughout the game going up 29-20 at the half. Hanover capped off the game with a 12-5 fourth quarter to secure the 56-36 win over Pike Valley and was led by Daiken Stallbaumer who scored 14 points, while both Will and Carter Bruna each netted 10 points.

The win moves the Hanover boys to 20-2 and into the 1A-DI State tournament, making a trip to State for the 15th time in school history and the third-straight year.
