At State for the first time since 2003 when they won the State title the Marysville Bulldog boys moved a step close to that outcome with a first round win in the Class 3A State tournament on Thursday in Hutchinson. Marysville topped Silver Lake 62-44 to earn the first round win.

Plenty of scoring helped Marysville snag the win over Silver Lake as the Bulldogs led 15-12 after the first quarter and posted another 15-12 quarter in the second to lead 30-24 at intermission after shooting 57% from the floor in the first half and going 4-9 from three-point range. The lead grew in the second half for Marysville as they outscored Silver Lake by eight points in the third and closed the game out with a 13-9 fourth and secure the 62-44 win.

Shooting 46.9% from the floor and a trio of guys in double figures led Marysville in the win as Gabe Pieschl poured in 20 points on 7-13 shooting, while Bryson Meinhardt had a double-double with 15 points and 16 rebounds. Adam Lindhorst tallied 11 points hitting three three-pointers for the Bulldogs.

The win moves Marysville to 20-4 on the season and into the Semifinals of 3A State tournament in Hutchinson were they will play Belle Plaine who upset Galena in the first round. The Bulldogs hit the court again on Friday, March 10th at 4:45pm.
