Washington County Hosts Track Quad With Linn, Hanover & Clifton-Clyde

Washington County Track Quad Full Results (4-11-17) - Girls & Boys

A quartet of Twin Valley League schools matched up against each other for track and field action on Tuesday as Washington County hosted Hanover, Linn and Clifton-Clyde. 

The gir'ls team competition was a tight race as Hanover claimed the top spot of the four with 99 points but only five points ahead of Clifton-Clyde who took second and Linn was not far behind in third with 89 points, while Washington County finished fourth with 62 points. In the boys competition Washington County ran away with the team title posting 145 points to take first, while 94 points from Clifton-Clyde got them second. Hanover and Linn boys finished third and fourth with 79 and 45 points. 

Eleven first place finishes in the boys competition including a sweep of the field events led Washington County at their home Quad. Four guys won two events each on the day for the Tigers as Jae Eaton won the shot put (54'02.25) and the 100 meter dash (11.77), while Ke'shaun Vernon took gold in the long jump (19'05) and 200 meter dash (25.72). Levi Gauby and Jerrod Hoover were the other two Tiger competitors to capture a pair of first place finishes. Gauby won the triple jump (39'04.75) and the pole vault (13'08), while Hoover won the high jump (6'04) and 110 meter hurdles (17.01). Hunter Kier tossed his way to first in the discus (149'09), while Dawson Miller took first in the javelin (175'06) and the 4x100 meter relay (45.73) team also earned first place. 

Lady Tigers had four first place finishers on the day with Brenna Linenberger winning the discus (106'09), Jenna Hennerberg took the gold in the javelin (103'04), while on the track the 4x100 meter relay (54.59) team won and Rachael Wood paced her way to first in the 3200m (16:11).

Clifton-Clyde Eagle girls and boys each snagged second place as teams but the only individual event wins for the Eagles came in the girls competition. Baylie Bowser won the shot put (36'04.50) and Lacey Biggerstaff brought home the pole vault (8'00) title, while Jaysie Bowser won both the 100m hurdles (19.02 and 1600m (6:27.88). 

On the way to first place as a team the Hanover lady Wildcats earned five first place finishes. The 4x400 (4:22.55) and 4x800 meter relay (11:15) teams took first place, while Bailey Libby won the 300 meter hurdles (58.13). Claire Zarybnikcy won a pair of events earning first place in the 400 meter dash (1:03.28) and the 800 meter run (2:43). The Hanover boys also notched five event wins on the day. Pete Peters raced to the 400 meter dash (55.29) win, while Michael Jueneman earned the gold in the 300 meter hurdles (43.70) and Adam Zarybnicky placed first in the 800 meter run (2:11.96). Wildcat boys also earned first in the 4x400 (3:52.23) and 4x800 meter relays (9:11).

For Linn it was Shelby Ohlde highlighting the competition as she won three separate events leaping the win the high jump (5'07) and sprinting to the gold in the 100 (13.91) and 200 (28.38) meter dashes. Brooke Diederich and Brooke Beier also picked up a gold medal winning the long jump (16'06.50) and triple jump (28'05.50), respectively. While in the boys competition Daniel York won the distance races taking first in the 1600 (5:17.70) and the 320 (11:49) meter runs.
