Jeff West Track Invite Results (4-18-17) - Girls & Boys

Area teams from the Big Seven and Northeast Kansas Leagues continued their track seasons on Tuesday as Jeff West hosted a track meet with Jefferson County North, Oskaloosa, Valley Falls, ACCHS and Santa Fe Trail. 

The top team performance on the day from the girls side of competition came from the host Jeff West who with 171 points won their home meet, beating out Jefferson County North who took second with 152 points. Santa Fe Trail, Oskaloosa, Valley Falls and ACCHS finished the girls team standings taking third through sixth. On the boys side 191 points won the boys team title for JCN, while Santa Fe Trail took second place. Oskaloosa, Jeff West, ACCHS and Valley Falls finished out the boys team standings taking third through sixth. 

Leading the charge for the lady Tigers of Jeff West at their home meet was Mariah Murdie who swept the 100 and 300 meter hurdles with times of 16.10 and 53.01, while posting a leap of 34'06.50 to win the triple jump, also. Makenzie Tucker snagged a pair of first place finishes winning the 800 meter run (2:30) and the pole vault (8'06), while Kyler Kaniper won the girls triple jump (38'11) and Jordan Hawman won the girls 200 meter dash (27.11). Lady Tigers 4x400 meter relay (4:24) team also earned first place and Heather Kahler placed first in the high jump (4'08). 

Seven first place finishes paced the JCN boys to the top team finish on the day at the Jeff West Invite. On the track the Charger boys won the 4x100 (46.12) and 4x400 (3:39) meter relays, while Brayden Summers paced his way to the 1600 meter run (4:50.77) win and Kyle Budy earned first in the 800 meter run (2:10.22). Jacob Schrick with a toss of 182'08 won the javelin, while Ridge Robertson won the pole vault with an 11'06 mark and Joel Abel won the pentathlon. Lady Chargers also had some top finishers on the day as the girls 4x100 meter relay (53.47) took first, while Makenzi Bryant won the 100 meter dash (13.56), Carlie Noll won the pentathlon and Josie Gerety took the gold in the javelin (99'03). 

The strong performances continue to come during the track season for Oskaloosa Bear, John Tarwater who won three events by sweeping the hurdles and winning the high jump (6'0). Times of 16.86 and 42.18 won Tarwater the 110 and 300 meter hurdles, respectively. Gabe Robbins leapt to the boys long jump (18'01) crown, while Alexi Adams and Jaden Courter won the girls 400 meter dash (1:01.29) and shot put (37'03), respectively. 

Valley Falls had one top first place performance on the day as Sway Schmelzle won the boys long jump with a leap of 14'05.
