Washington County Boys & Valley Heights Girls Win Washington County Track Invite

Washington County Track Invite Results (4-25-17) - Girls & Boys

Six Twin Valley League schools along with two other schools continued their track seasons on Tuesday as Washington County hosted competition. 

The host Tiger boys earned first place as a team out of 10 schools in action earning 138 total points. Republic County boys finished second, while Centralia took third and Hanover and Valley Heights rounded out the Top five in fourth and fifth. Clifton-Clyde, Axtell, Pike Valley, Blue Valley-Randolph and Linn finished out the boys team standings placing sixth through tenth. In the girls competition Valley Heights posted 122 points to take first, while Centralia finished second. Hanover, Axtell and Linn rounded out the Top five girls team finishes placing third, fourth and fifth. While, Republic County, Pike Valley, Clifton-Clyde, Washington County and Blue Valley-Randolph finished out the girls team standings placing sixth through tenth. 

Leading the way for Washington County boys to earn first place as the performance of Jerrod Hoover who won three events taking first in the 110 meter hurdles (16.26), while also registering the winning marks in a pair of field events, taking first in the javelin (182'03) and the high jump (6'08). Jae Eaton earned a pair top performances winning the 100 meter dash (11.37) and shot put (50'05), while Levi Gauby took first in both the triple jump (42'02) and pole vault (13'06). Hunter Kier also won the an event posting the best throw in the discus (158'06) and the Tiger boys 4x100 meter relay (45.96) also took first. Lady Tigers were led by Jenna Hennerberg who won the shot put with a toss of 40'04.25. 

A trio of first place finishes by Kayla Smith and three more first place finishes by three others helped guide the Valley Heights girls to first place as a team. Smith sprinted to times of 12.73 and 26.40 to win the 100 and 200 meter dashes and with a leap of 17'04.50 took first in the long jump. Also on the track Sam Vermetten earned first place in the 800 meter run (2:21.33), while in the field events Shelby Vermetten took first in the discus (123'09) and Skyler Saunders won the high jump (5'06). 

Centralia girls took second place as a team and had a trio of event winners at the Washington County Invite. Breanna Schmitz broke the school record in the pole vault the event with a mark of 10'09. While, Madison Lueger tossed her way to the javelin (132'10) first place finish and Maegan Koch won the 400 meter dash (1:02.19). Dylan Boeckman in the boy’s competition earned the gold in the 300 meter hurdles with a time of 42.06. 

Hanover Wildcats were led by the girls as the 4x400 (4:21.63) and 4x800 (11:02.63) meter relays each took first place and Macy Doebele won the triple jump (34'03.25). Bailey Liby added to the top lady Wildcat performances as she swept the hurdles with times of 18.79 and 53.09 to win the 100 and 300 meter hurdles. The boy’s 4x400 meter relay also earned first place for Hanover posting a time of 3:38.32. 

Axtell Eagles were led by their distance runners on the day as Olivia Kuckelman won the girls 1600 and 3200 meter runs behind times of 5:50.60 and 12:44.82, while in Burke Deters won the boys 3200 meter run after posting a time of 10:22.43. 

Linn girl’s 4x100 meter relay also earned first place on the day after posting a time of 53.18.
