Sabetha Boys Golf Takes First at Big 7 Quad Hosted by Holton

As the calendar turned to the final month of high school sports competition for the school year it was Big Seven League action that continued the boy’s golf season for Sabetha, Nemaha Central, Holton and Hiawatha. 

All four teams teed it up on Monday as Holton played host and it was the Bluejays of Sabetha winning another competition taking first by five strokes with team score of 163. Nemaha Central earned second place after notching a 168 team score, while Holton and Hiawatha posted team scores of 184 and 198, respectively. 

Sabetha on the day was led by David Pierson who shot a 38 to post the best individual round, while Jesse Burger took third after shooting a 39. Garrett Scott and Reese Lierz finished out the Bluejays four-man team score carding rounds of 41 and 45, respectively. Noah Garber and Brendan Rokey both were action posting rounds of 46 and 48 on the day. 

Leading the way for Nemaha Central was Dylan Enneking and Billy Mitchell who placed fourth and fifth with rounds of 40 and 41. Cory Nolte and Dalton Schmelzle rounded out the Thunder's team score with rounds of 42 and 45. While Corey Heiman and Eric Hammes also teed it up posting rounds of 54 and 56. 

AJ Haussler led the Holton Wildcats shooting a 39 to earn second place individually. Ryan Taylor, Austin Shepley and Rafe Folk finished the Holton four-man team score after posting rounds of 45, 48 and 52. Riley Shepley and Brady Boswell were also in action carding rounds of 56 and 59. 

Hiawatha Red Hawks were led by Tom Nolte who shot a 46, while Caden Lillie shot a 47. Lukas Holladay, Jace Grubb and Keenan Hinton also teed it up for Hiawatha posting rounds of 52, 53 and 57, respectively. 

All four golf teams are back in action on Tuesday as both Hiawatha and Holton are set to compete at the Maur Hill-Mount Academy Invite, while Sabetha will compete in the Rossville Invite and Nemaha Central will hit the links at the Washington County Invite.
