Nemaha Central Girls & Boys Win Sabetha Track Invite

Area athletes were off and running, leaping and throwing on Thursday in Sabetha as the track season rolled along for several area teams. 

The girl's team title was claimed by Nemaha Central winning by over 48 points with a total of 148 points, while Auburn took second and Sabetha finished third. Centralia and Marysville girls finished out the Top five in fourth and fifth place. Hiawatha, Falls City, Horton, Riverside, Wetmore and Kickapoo Nation finished sixth, seventh, eighth, ninth and tied for 10th. 

The boys team standings were a bit closer at the top as Nemaha Central won with a little over 137 points but only won by just over 13 points as Sabetha tallied 124 points to take second. Falls City, Marysville and Riverside rounded out the Top five taking third through fifth, respectively. Centralia, Hiawatha, Wetmore, Auburn, Horton and Kickapoo Nation finished sixth through 11th. 

For the Nemaha Central Thunder they were led on the day by Jacob Koezler who won three events sprinting to times of 11.07 and 23.71 to take first in the 100 and 200 meter dashes, while in the long jump posting a leap of 21'06.25 to earn first. Zach Buessing also earned a first place finish for the Thunder boys winning the 110 meter hurdles (16.18). Both the boys and girls 4x100 meter relay teams took first place with times of 44.12 and 52.62. In the girls competition Kaley Dalinghaus won two throwing events taking first with throws of 39'01 and 131'07 to win the shot put and javelin. Jacy Dalinghaus won the discus (123'02) and Allison Rottinghaus earned first in the triple jump (34'08.50). 

Sabetha Bluejays notched eight first place finishes with seven coming in the boy's competition. The boys 4x400 and 4x800 meter relay teams posted times of 3:38.61 and 9:08.73 to earn first place. Braeden and Keegan Cox each won two individual events on the day, as Braeden took first in the high jump (6'00) and 800 meter run (2:11.50) and Keegan won the 1600 (4:48.24) and 3200 (10:41.76) meter runs. Eric Renyer recorded the best throw in the shot put (50'10) earning first place, while in the girl's competition Skyler McAfee raced to first in the 800 meter run (2:35.26). 

Centralia Panthers were led by Morgan Kramer who won the girls 100 and 200 meter dashes with times of 13.43 and 27.43, while Maegan Koch ran to first place in the 400 meter dash with a time of 1:03.21. The lady Panthers 4x400 meter relay (4:27.77) also earned first place, while in the boys competition Josh Hasenkamp won the javelin (169'08). 

Avery Williams led Marysville earning two of the four first place finishes for the Bulldogs by winning the girls 100 meter hurdles (16.75) and long jump (16'00). While Matt Lindhorst and Grace Stohs won the boys and girls pole vault titles, respectively with vaults of 13'06 and 11'0. 

Auburn registered four event wins on the day with three in the girls action as Allie Binder won the 3200 meter run (11:55.35), Theresa Nichols earned first in the 300 meter hurdles (49:96) and the girls 4x800 meter relay (10:35.26) took first. Bulldog boys earned first in the 4x100 meter throwers relay with a time of 53.63. 

Hiawatha Red Hawks had a trio of gold medal performances at the Sabetha Invite. Cariann Kunkel won the girls high jump (5'0) and Elizabeth Kettler raced to first in the girls 1600 meter run (5:30.50), while Gavin Lierz won the boys 300 meter hurdles (40.92). 

Tre'nez Wilkinson continues to perform strong for Riverside finishing first in the boys 400 meter dash (53.22) and triple jump (41'05.25). 

Falls City Tigers were led by Ben Bauman who won the discus (140'11.50), while the Horton Chargers were led by the girls 4x100 meter throwers relay (1:04.08) team who took first.
