Clifton-Clyde Girls Take Second & Boys Third at Thompson Track Relays

Clifton-Clyde Eagles put up plenty of strong individual performances and team performances on Friday at the Thompson Relays in Lincoln as they gear up for the Twin Valley League meet next week. 

Behind 99 points the Eagle boys earned second place as a team out of eight schools finishing only seven points behind Osborne who took first. For the girls they posted 107 points and earned third place finishing behind Osborne and Bennington. 

Nathan Ohlde led the way for boys as he won two events sprinting to a time of 11.67 to win the 100 meter dash and posting a time of 43.51 to win the 300 meter hurdles, while Brant Douglas won the 200 meter dash behind a time of 23.89. The Eagles boys also took first place in the 4x110 yard relay posting a time of 46.03, while earning fourth place in the 4x440 and 4x880 yard relays. Three Eagles snagged silver medals as Michael Spehr took second in the 110 meter hurdles, Jacob Sternberg placed second in the pole vault and Matt Barnes earned second in the triple jump while also earning third in the long jump.

Bradley Koch earned a pair of Top five finishes for Clifton-Clyde finishing third in the high jump and fifth in the javelin. While on the track Zach Sorell, Christian Seifert and Drake Steinbrock each notched fourth place showings in the 800 meter run, 300 meter hurdles and 110 meter hurdles, respectively. Both Elias Girard and Aidan Kieffer tallied fourth place performances in the field events of triple jump and pole vault. 

In the girls competition Jaysie Bowser led the Eagles on the day as she won the long jump with a leap of 14'07.50, while taking second in the 100 meter hurdles and fourth in the 800 meter run. Baylie Bowser racked up three Top four performances earning second in the shot put and fourth place in both the discus and javelin, while Emily Coffman took second in the high jump and third in the javelin. Both Shaylea Lawson and Payton Girard snagged second place finishes in the 400 meter dash and pole vault, respectively while the girl’s 4x440 yard relay took third place. Taylor Thompson and Riley Knox also earned third place finishes coming in the high jump and pole vault. Fourth place finishes were garnered by Olivia Nobert and Gracie Rudolph in the high jump and shot put, while Lacey Biggerstaff earned fifth place in the javelin. 

The Eagles now gear up for the Twin Valley League meet next Thursday, May 11th at Washington County.
