The Atchison Redmen had a lot to play for. It was the home opener, 70's Reunion Weekend, and the defense of it's 5 consecutive NEKL championships was set to begin. And it couldn't have gone better for AHS as they dominated Sumner Academy 40-14 Friday night in front of an appreciative crowd in Amelia Earhart Stadium.
Both Sercey Duncan, Jr. and Taye Helms finished the night with 3 touchdowns each for the Redmen and QB Brayden Dame threw one TD pass. The Redmen led 19-0 in the third quarter before the Sabres got anything on the board. Atchison is now 1-1, 1-0 in the Kansas City-Atchison League and Sumner goes to 1-1, 1-1.
Next Friday Atchison gets back on the busses as they play at Schlagle while Sumner will host Eudora.
