TVL Runners Claim Top Spots at Centralia Cross Country Invite

Cross Country season had a beautiful day for competition on Saturday as Centralia played host to several other Twin Valley League schools and a few others for competition. 

In the boys race it was a tight battle for the top team spot as Wabaunsee won by 11 points over Frankfort who took second. Centralia earned third place, while Jefferson County North finished fourth as a team. Washington County, Valley Heights, Horton, Onaga and Troy finished fifth, sixth, seventh, eighth and ninth as teams. Only three schools field full girl’s teams on the day as Frankfort took first, while JCN placed second and Onaga third. 

Frankfort Wildcats on the way to top team finishes had the top boys individual finish on the day as Brodric Shirley continued his strong cross country season by winning the Centralia Invite with a time of 16:23.31 to win by over a minute. Two other Wildcat boys finished in the Top 10 as Colton Parthemer placed eighth (18:14.15) and Brandon Anderson finished tenth (18:21.09). Lady Wildcats were led by Tori Keller who with a time of 24:10.72 earned sixth place, while Amburley Kokruda and Lauryn Stewart finished 12th and 16th. 

Olivia Kuckelman once again led the Axtell Eagles as she raced to a time of 20:34.34 to win the Centralia Invite by nearly two minutes, while her teammate Jordyn Smith tallied a fourth place finish with time of 22:38.09. In the boys race Quinn Buessing raced to a fourth place finish posting a time of 17:35.09. Simon Schmitz and Blake Porting each nabbed 15th and 18th place. 

Valley Heights was led by a pair of third place finishes as Alex Hardin (17:43.28) took third in the boys race, while Abby Lister (22:36.50) tallied third in the girls race. Also in the girls competition Samantha Hardin earned an 18th place finish. 

Four Top 20 finishes led the JCN Chargers on the day as Trevor Pentlin posted the best finish claiming sixth (17:56.12) in the boys race, while Logan Baker earned 20th place. In the girls competition Rose Wendling with a time of 24:43.59 placed ninth, while Faith Kramer finished 17th. 

Wetmore Cardinal Alena Pfrang raced to a time of 22:26.50 to earn second place while Makayla Henry grabbed a seventh place finish behind a time fo 24:28.81. In the boys competition Jonathan Hladky-Bailey placed 19th at the Centralia Invite. 

The host Centralia Panthers were led by Dylan Boeckman (18:20.78) who took home ninth place in the boys race, while Devon Feldkamp place 14th. Kendall Durland earned 19th place in the girls race. 

Onaga Buffaloes had two Top 20 finishers on the day as Halie Jeanneret (24:31.28) raced to eighth place finish and Alexus Jeanneret posted a 20th place finish. 

Two Troy Trojans nabbed Top 20 finishes as Holly Williams and Kyla Reel raced to 14th and 15th in the girl’s competition. 

Clifton-Clyde, Washington County and Horton each had one Top 20 finisher on the day at the Centralia Invite. For Clifton-Clyde Alyssa Brown (25:23.06) earned tenth place in the girls race, while Tyler Simmons (17:59.24) took seventh in the boys race and Skye Joe Coversup of Horton placed 11th.
