Four Area Football Teams In Rankings Across State After Week 5

Five weeks of the high school football season are in the books and the high school football season is in full swing with some Classes in District play and others set to enter Districts in the coming week. Four area teams continue to hold spots in the rankings across the State after five weeks of play, while seven others are getting attention in some polls. 

Nemaha Central continues to sit atop of perch of the Class 3A rankings ranking #1 across the State. The Thunder are 5-0 on the season after a tough 13-0 win over Centralia at home in week five. A trio of area teams are getting plenty of attention in the rankings also in Class 3A as Sabetha, Perry Lecompton and Marysville are being looked at in several polls. The Bluejays are 5-0 after beating Perry Lecompton to send the Kaws to 4-1, while Marysville sits at 4-1 on the season after beating Clay Center last week. 

Hanover Wildcats continue to cruise past their opponents beating Wetmore 48-0 last week to move to 5-0 on the season and extend their win streak to 17-straight. The Wildcats are a unanimous #1 in 8-Man DII polls across the State. Axtell after a 50-36 win over Frankfort last week is getting some attention in 8-Man DII with a 3-2 mark, while in 8-Man DI the Clifton-Clyde Eagles are flying high with a 5-0 start and continue to receive attention in the polls. Clifton-Clyde beat Herington last week to remain unbeaten. 

Class 2-1A continues to house a pair of area teams as the Jefferson County North Chargers sit at 5-0 after beating Horton 48-7 last week and rank #2 in a few polls, while coming in at #3 in a few others. Valley Heights Mustangs rushing attack continues to push them into the win column as they are 5-0 after a 50-20 win over Wabaunsee and check in ranked #5 again this week. Both Jackson Heights and Centralia continue to get attention in the 2-1A rankings. The Cobras are 5-0 after a win over Washington County, while Centralia is 3-2 after a loss to 3A #1 Nemaha Central last week. 

Class 4A-DII continues to see Holton receive attention in the rankings are the Wildcats are 3-2 on the season after a win over Royal Valley last week.
