Seven Area Volleyball Teams Ranked in Latest KVA Week 5 Rankings

With only a few weeks left in the regular season the action on the volleyball court across Kansas has continued to heat up as teams position themselves for a run in the postseason. Seven area teams find themselves in the Kansas Volleyball Association rankings this week with plenty of shakeup happening. 

This week five of the seven area teams in the KVA rankings check in the polls in Class 1A-Division I. The Centralia Panthers who are now 28-1 on the season after two wins over Frankfort and a win over Clifton-Clyde Tuesday are back at #1 in 1A-DI as previous #1 Goessel moved up to Class 2A. The Hanover Wildcats continue to be ranked in 1A-DI and are up one spot to #4 in the polls and sit at 23-8 on the season after beating Valley Heights on Tuesday but falling to Washington County.

Three new area teams are in the 1A-DI rankings this week in Valley Falls, Washington County and Frankfort. The Dragons moved down to 1A-DI and remain ranked this season after being ranked in 2A all season the Dragons check in at #6 in 1A-DI this week and sit at 23-6 on the season after wins over Jackson Heights and Pleasant Ridge on Tuesday. Washington County Tigers like Valley Falls move down to 1A-DI this year and for the Tigers the jump into the polls is the first time to be ranked this year. Tigers come in at #9 in the polls and are 17-10 after beating Hanover and falling to Valley Heights on Tuesday night. Frankfort Wildcats are back in the 1A-DI rankings for the second time this season and check in at #10 sitting at 19-9 after falling to Centralia twice on Tuesday and beating Clifton-Clyde. 

One other Twin Valley League team continues to be ranked this season also as the Valley Heights Mustangs come in at #10 in the Class 2A polls this week moving down one spot. Mustangs are now 19-8 on the season after beating Washington County on Tuesday and falling to Hanover. Jefferson County North fell out of the 2A polls this week. 

The lone area team in the Class 3A rankings this week is from the Big Seven League as the Nemaha Central Thunder continue to main a spot in the Top 10 coming at #5 again this week. The Thunder are now 26-2 on the season after splitting with Royal Valley in Big Seven League play on Tuesday night. The Panthers fell out of the polls this week in 3A.
