Several TVL Runners Qualify for 1A State Cross Country at Regionals

The Twin Valley League will be represented in Wamego on Saturday, October 28th quite well as several runners qualified for the Class 1A State competition. 

Five TVL schools are sending their cross country teams to State after Top four Regional finishes at Washington County. In the boys race Frankfort earned second as a team while Axtell boys finished in third and each qualify for State as does Centralia boys who finished fourth. On the girls side the Centralia girls are headed to State after finishing third at Regionals and Frankfort girls too after placing fourth. 

Frankfort boys were led by Regional runner-up Brodric Shirley who with a time of 16:57.85 to earn the silver medal. The rest of the Wildcat boys performances saw Colton Parthemer earn ninth (18:17.14), Brandon Anderson 12th, Cody Evans 28th, Garret Dalinghaus 42nd, Daniel Dowd 49th and Jaron Thomas 57th to make up the team. Leading the Frankfort girls was Victoria Keller who placed ninth with a time of 23:48.54, while her teammates posted finishes of 36th, 39th, 40th, 44th and 50th for Alexus Jeanneret, Lauryn Stewart, Amburley Kokoruda, Clara Dressman and Hattie Polson, respectively. 

Centralia girls on their way to third place were led by Emma Holthaus who placed sixth with a time of 23:14.47. The rest of the lady Panthers posted finishes of 21st, 32nd and 53rd for Emily Weyer, Kendall Durland and Courtney Huerter. Panther boys were led by Dylan Boeckman who ran to a time of 18:10.50 to earn eighth place as the boys placed fourth as a team. Devin Feldkamp finished 18th, while Ransom Engelken tallied a 20th place, Federico D'Ambrosio placed 23rd, Chardin Guillaume finished 51st and Matthew Stallbaumer placed 77th. 

The Axtell boys are headed to state after placing third as a team and were led by Quinn Buessing who with a time of 17:37.64 finished sixth place. Simon Schmitz ran to a 14th place finish, while Blake Porting placed 19th and Mitchell Buessing took 24th. The two lady Eagle runners in Olivia Kuckelman and Jordyn Smith are both going to State also after both finishing in the Top five at Regionals. Kuckelman posted a time of 20:51.77 to be Regional runner-up taking second, while a time of 22:59.56 earned Smith fifth place. 

Wetmore Cardinal, Alena Pfrang with a third place finish is headed to State as she posted a time of 22:21.58, while Jonathan Hladky-Bailey will also go to State after a 17th place finish in the boys competition, qualifying with a top time from a non-qualifying team. 

Washington County Tiger, Tyler Simmons will head to State after placing 13th and qualifying with a top time from a non-qualifying team.
