JCN Tops Jackson Heights in Regional Football
By Tom Kautz

In a post-season game which featured teams with many contrasts, Jefferson County North came from behind to win over Jackson Heights 36-20 Friday night in Winchester.

Fans of both teams had been looking forward for weeks to the possibility that these teams might meet.  Co-Champions of the NEKL and both undefeated in conference play, a regular season conference game was not in the cards as district play made the scheduling impossible.  A Regional play-off game became the venue and the game was as exciting and closely played as any fan might have hoped.

Taking the opening kickoff, Jackson Heights scored first. 79 seconds later JCN was on the board and it was 6-6 after one quarter.  Heights scored again on its first possession of the second quarter.  JCN responded and the score was 14-14 at halftime.

The third quarter was the difference.  The Chargers struck quickly and from long range with TD passes from QB Boston Lane of 61 (to Brayden Summers) and 78 yards (to Ridge Robertson).  Robertson added a third score of the quarter and it was 36-14.  The Cobra's ball control wishbone offense got on the board in the fourth quarter but the JCN lead held up.

Heights scoring came on runs  by Cooper Williams (1 yd), Brady Holliday (11 yd) and Garrett Hartman (1 yd).  Jeff North was led by Ridge Robertson's 4 TD's and one by Brayden Summers.

Jackson Heights ends the season at 8-2 while Jefferson County North moves to 10-0 and sets a date with Olpe next week.
