Eighteen Area High School Basketball Teams Ranked in Latest KBCA Rankings

With midseason tournaments in the books for many area teams and few set to play in tournament this week the new set of Kansas Basketball Coaches Association rankings have been released and it features 18 area teams this week. 

Eight of the 18 are ranked in Class 1A-Division I with seven of those eight coming out of the Twin Valley League. On the girls side there was shake up in the rankings for the area teams but the same four area teams remain in the polls with Centralia, Frankfort, Hanover and Valley Falls all still ranked. Centralia girls after winning the TVL Tournament for the fourth straight year and 13th time are now 11-1 on the season and move up one spot to #2. Frankfort girls are up one spot also to #3 with an 11-2 record after taking third at the TVL Tournament. Hanover girls fell two spots to #4 and sit at 7-3 on the season after taking fourth in the TVL Tournament. Valley Falls girls were idle last week and sit at 7-2 on the season moving up one spot in the polls to #8. 

On the boys side of the 1A-DI rankings there was changes between the area teams too. Doniphan West boys earned the TVL Tournament title and sit at 11-0 on the season and rank #2 this week up three spots. While Hanover who took second in the TVL Tournament fell two spots to #3 as they sit at 9-1 on the season. Clifton-Clyde boys move up to #7 in the rankings after finishing third at the TVL Tournament and are 11-2 on the year. Centralia boys took fourth at the TVL Tournament and are 8-5 on the season and fell two spots to #8 this week in the rankings. 

Class 1A-DII once again has an area team in the rankings as the Linn boys break back into the rankings coming in at #9 this week after going 2-1 at the TVL Tournament to sit at 6-4 on the season. 

Four area teams are in the Class 3A rankings with Nemaha Central girls and boys leading the way. The lady Thunder picked up a win over Perry Lecompton last week to improve to 9-1 on the season and continue to hold the #3 spot in the polls, while the Nemaha Central boys are down one spot to #4 and sit at 10-2 after taking third at the Thunder Classic. Maur Hill-Mount Academy picked up two wins over Christ Prep last week to improve to 9-1 on the year and are up one spot to #7 in the 3A polls. While Perry Lecompton is 10-2 on the year after winning the Valley Falls boys Invite last week and has returned to the rankings this week coming in at #9. 

In Class 4A-Division II four area teams remain ranked with three in the girls poll. Marysville girls were idle last week and sit at 8-1 on the season and moved up one spot to #3 this week. Holton girls took fourth at the Basehor-Linwood Invite and fell two spots in the polls to #4 as they are 10-3. Jeff West girls won the Tonganoxie Invite and are now 11-2 on the season but fell one spot in the polls to #6. On the boys side Marysville jumped up two spots to #5 after winning the Thunder Classic and improving to 10-2. 

Class 2A features only one area team this week again as the Jefferson County North Charger boys are up one spot to #7 after taking second at the Valley Falls Invite and now are 9-2 on the season.
