Hanover Sweeps Battle of Wildcats Versus Frankfort

It was a battle of Wildcats in the Twin Valley League on Friday night as Hanover played host to Frankfort and earned the sweep at home. Hanover girls won a battle of ranked teams 56-40, while the Hanover boys used a solid second half to beat Frankfort 50-29. 

GIRLS 

A tight battle early saw a strong third quarter by Hanover that proved to be the biggest difference in the contest leading them to the win. Frankfort worked to a 6-2 advantage early but Hanover answered with an 11-0 run to lead 13-6 late in the first quarter and Jessa Yaussi hit a three-pointer at the end of the quarter for Frankfort to make it 13-9. The lead grew to 10 late in the second quarter at 27-17 but a near half-court three-pointer was drained by Yaussi just before halftime to make it 27-20 at the half. Hanover took control of the contest with a 21-10 third quarter going 5-6 from three point range to lead 48-30 after three quarters. Using the lead built by the third quarter Hanover held off Frankfort to earn the 56-40 win. 

Hanover with the win improved to 11-3 on the season and 7-1 in Twin Valley League play. Macy Doebele led Hanover with 19 points earning Community National Bank "Player to Bank" honors on 92.1 KMZA. Tianna Lohse chipped in 10 points. 

Frankfort with the loss fell to 13-3 overall and 7-2 in the TVL as Yaussi led the team with 14 points, while Emilee Ebert scored 13 points. 

Season continues on Tuesday, February 6th for both teams as Hanover travels to Doniphan West and Frankfort heads to Onaga. 

BOYS 

Behind a strong second quarter and holding Frankfort to eight points in the second half Hanover earned the win at home. Frankfort came out with great energy early and held the lead most of the first quarter and went into the second quarter up 12-10 but Hanover put together a 20-9 second quarter to lead by nine points at the half 30-21 as Daiken Stallbaumer gave Hanover great play off the bench netting 11 first half points. Neither team found much offensive groove in the second half but Hanover finished the game with a 14-5 fourth quarter and held Frankfort to eight second half points sending Hanover to the 50-29 win. 

The win improves Hanover to 13-1 on the season and 8-0 in the Twin Valley League. Stallbaumer led the team in scoring finishing with 14 points earning Community National Bank "Player to Bank On" honors on 92.1 KMZA. 

Frankfort with the loss fell to 5-11 on the season and 4-5 in TVL play. Garret Dalinghaus led Frankfort with nine points in the loss. 

Season continues on Tuesday, February 6th for both teams as Hanover travels to Doniphan West and Frankfort heads to Onaga.
