The Hanover Wildcats are headed back to the State tournament and both the girls and boys will have opportunities to defend their Class 1A-Division I State title's from last year. Wildcats earned spots back at the State tournament with wins over Clifton-Clyde in the 1A-DI Sub-State Championship games at Wakefield as the girls won 48-40 and the boys notched a 65-60 win. 

Hanover girls established a 16-11 lead after the first quarter over Clifton-Clyde went into halftime up 28-21 and used that cushion to hold off Clifton-Clyde. While the Eagles hung within striking distance Hanover held them off finishing the game to earn the 48-40 win. Macy Doebele led Hanover with 15 points, while Tianna Lohse netted 11 points in the contest. 

The win moves the Hanover girls to 18-3 on the season and into the 1A-DI State tournament riding a 10-game winning streak. It marks the third-straight State appearance for the lady Wildcats and seventh overall. Hanover will play fellow Twin Valley League team Frankfort in the four versus five first round matchup on Thursday, March 8th at 4:45pm in Hays as they look to defend their State title from last year. 

Hanover boys are back at State for the fourth-straight year and 16th time after working past Clifton-Clyde in a tough contest. The matchup was gridlocked at 17-17 after the first quarter but Hanover owned the lead by halftime going into intermission up 32-28. The lead remained at four after three quarters of play and the Wildcats went on to earn the win 65-60. 

Carter Bruna paced Hanover with 18 points in the win to move them to 20-1 on the season riding a 10-game winning streak headed into the 1A-DI State tournament. The boys earned the two seed at State and will take on Rawlins County (18-5) in the first round on Wednesday, March 7th at 8:15pm in Hays.
