The strong start to the baseball season rolled along for the Sabetha Bluejays on Monday as they hosted rival Nemaha Central for a twinbill and earned the sweep with 11-6 and 11-5 wins to remain unbeaten on the season.

Game one saw some early offense for Sabetha and solid pitching by Brayden Becker as the Bluejays plated four runs in the bottom of the second, added two more in the third before Nemaha Central scratched a run across in the top of the fourth to make it 6-1. In the bottom of the fourth Sabetha tallied five runs to make it a 10-run advantage and was three-outs away from the run-rule win but Seneca had an answer in the top of fifth scoring four runs to making the game go the full seven but that would be all the scoring and Sabetha captured the 11-6 game one win.

Becker was strong on the mound tossing five innings to get the win recording four strikeouts on the mound, while also notching a pair of RBI's offensively. Gabe Garber and Blake Frey each had a pair of hits and Garber added four RBI's in the win for the Bluejays. In the loss Austin Gerety had two hits for the Thunder.

Game two saw some early offense by Sabetha also and the Bluejays used that to earn the win. The scoring opened in the bottom of the first as Sabetha set eight to the plate scoring four on just two hits as the Bluejays capitalized on two Nemaha Central errors, along with two walks and a hit batter. In the top of the fourth the Thunder had three straight hits to produce two runs to make it 4-2 but in the bottom of the fourth Sabetha batted around and scored five on five hits making it 9-2. The Thunder scored three more in the fifth but Sabetha added a run in the fifth and sixth to secure the 11-5 win and the doubleheader sweep.

Sabetha was led at the plate by Brandon Brownlee who was 3-4 with a pair of doubles, while Becker was on base four times going 1-1 with two runs scored, an RBI, two walks and a hit by pitch. Joe Gruber went a solid four and one-third innings as the starter with Blake Frey and Preston Brunning finishing out the contest on the mound. Nemaha Central in the loss had Mitchell Henry toss three and one-third innings, while Will Bartkoski finish the contest and offensively Tyler Gerety was 2-4 with a double, RBI and run scored, while Henry went 3-4 with two RBI's and run scored. Austin Gerety added a two-hit game for the Thunder.

The pair of wins moves Sabetha to 8-0 on the season overall, while Nemaha Central fell to 6-4 on the season. Both teams continue their seasons on Friday as Sabetha will host Rossville and Nemaha Central will travel to Hiawatha.
