Nemaha Central Boys & Girls Win Big Seven Track Quad at Sabetha

Five of nine teams from the Big Seven were in action on Tuesday in League competition as Sabetha hosted a League track quad. 

Nemaha Central lead the competition on the day as the Thunder boys took first place with 117 total points, while the lady Thunder posted 99 total points. In the boys competition Sabetha earned second, while Holton, Jeff West and Riverside rounded out the team standings. For the girls Jeff West took second, while Sabetha, Holton and Riverside finished out the team standings on the day. 

Sixteen first place finishes on the day led Nemaha Central helping them win the meet team titles. Jacy Dalinghaus once again this season swept the girls throwing events at a meet accomplishing the feat for the second time this year winning the shot put (38'08), discus (122'01) and javelin (140'02). Alleigh Kramer notched multiple gold medal performances on the day winning the girls 100 meter dash (13.55) and the long jump (15'08). In the boys competition Zachary Buessing once again claimed a sweep in the 110 and 300 meter hurdles with times of 14.81 and 40.12; he's swept the hurdles now in four meets this year. 

Other top flight finishes for the Lady Thunder included Allison Rottinghaus who won the 200 meter dash (27.31), while the 4x100 meter relay (51.93) took first and Laura Macke won the high jump (5'0). For the Nemaha Central boys Alec Suther sprinted past the competition in the 200 meter dash (23.81), while Jordan Peterson won the 3200 meter run (11:31.09) and the 4x100 meter relay (45.26) took first. In the boys field events Matt Baumgartner won the shot put (43'00.25), Dalton Schmelzle took first in the triple jump (42'02.25) and Caleb Henry claimed first in the pole vault (12'00). 

Jeff West Tigers had eight first place finishes on the day with seven coming in the girl’s competition. Makenzie Tucker and Mariah Murdie each won multiple events for the lady Tigers. Tucker took first in the 800 meter run (2:26.09) and the pole vault (9'0), while Murdie claimed first in the 300 meter hurdles (50.18) and triple jump (36'11.50). Also for the lady Tigers the 4x400 meter relay (4:20.36) earned first, while Heather Kahler won the 1600 meter run (6:00.48) and Jordan Hawman won the 400 meter dash (1:03.88). Jeff West boys were led by Bryce Clements as he won the long jump (19'07). 

Eight first place finishes were recorded by Holton athletes at the League quad at Sabetha. Both Mason Strader and Jayger Carson won two events as Strader took first in the 800 (2:05.97) and 1600 (4:46.37) meter runs, while Carson sprinted to wins in the 100 (11.55) and 400 (53.17) meter dashes. Andrew Harrison posted a toss of 133'11.50 to win the boys discus. Holton girls were led by Hannah Ent and Regan Baum who won the 3200 meter run (14:21.43) and 100 meter hurdles (16.75). 

The host Sabetha had six event wins on the season including a new school record in the boy’s javelin as Kyle Grimm won the event with a toss of 181'09. Sabetha boys 4x400 (3:35.89) and 4x800 (9:09.10) meter relay teams each took first place, while the girls 4x800 meter relay (10:44) also won. Braeden Cox also won the boys high jump for Sabetha with a leap of 6'02.
