Sabetha Boys Golf Claims Big Seven League Title

For the third straight year the Big Seven League boys golf title belongs to the Sabetha Bluejays as they earned the League crown four Top 10 performances in Seneca on Tuesday. 

Sabetha Bluejays flew to the League title behind a four-man team score of 319 winning the Big Seven title by 23-strokes. Jeff West and Nemaha Central took second and third place as teams with team scores of 342 and 357, while Holton and Royal Valley finished out the team standings taking fourth and fifth with scores of 406 and 503. 

On the way to first place Sabetha was led by four Top 10 individual performances including a Big Seven title for Garrett Scott who shot a 71 to win the tournament by six-strokes. Jesse Burger earned third place with an 80, while David Pierson took sixth and Tanner Ukele placed tenth posting rounds of 83 and 85, respectively. 

Jeff West Tigers were led by a trio of Top 10 performances on the day as Preston Stanley led the way shooting a 78 to take second place, carding one of only two rounds under 80 on the day. Collin Ellis and Cooper Mickens notched finishes of fifth and eighth with rounds of 82 and 84. 

Nemaha Central were led by Dalton Schmelzle who shot an 84 to place seventh, while Hunter Feldkamp finished ninth also behind an 84 and Cassidy Corby shot a 93 to place 12th. 

An 82 on the day by AJ Haussler led the Holton Wildcats earning him fourth place at the Big Seven League Tournament. 

Royal Valley was led by Corey Humpert who shot a 91 to place 11th, while Caden Lillie led Hiawatha taking 13th with a 93 on the course.
