Jeff West Girls Win 4A Track Regional Leading Area Qualifiers for State

Four area schools competed in Class 4A Regional track and field action on Friday at Clay Center vying for a spot at State and all four had State qualifiers. 

Jeff West Tigers led the area performances as the lady Tigers with 78 total points won the Regional title earning it by six points. A pair of event Regional titles were captured by the lady Tigers as Mariah Murdie won the triple jump behind a leap of 37'06.25, while the 4x400 meter relay (Makenzie Tucker, Destiny Wright, Murdie, Hawman) posted a time of 4:07.99 to win. Murdie added a second place finish in the 100 meter hurdles, while Makenzie Tucker placed second in the 800 meter run and third in the pole vault. The 4x800 meter relay (Macy Tucker, Heather Kahler, Murdie, Makenzie Tucker) finished second, while Jordan Hawman posted a third and fourth place finish in the 400 and 200 meter dashes, respectively. 

Leading the Jeff West boys was Bryce Clements who qualified for State by finishing second in the 800 meter run. 

Marysville girls had the second best team performance at the Regional placing third and were led by a pair of event winners. Sydney Pacha behind a toss of 122'11 won the javelin and Grace Stohs won the pole vault with a vault of 12'00. Sami Bartels added a second place finish in the javelin for the lady Bulldogs, while the 4x100 meter relay (Pacha, Stohs, Alexandria Capp, Cami Timm) placed third at Regionals and Sydney Grauer took fourth in the 3200 meter run. Marysville boys were led by a second place finish in the javelin by Bryson Meinhardt, while Jacob Backus placed third in the 300 meter hurdles and Andrew Fink and Matthew Lindhorst each finished fourth in the 400 meter dash and pole vault, respectively. 

Holton Wildcats were led by Mason Strader who won the boys 800 meter run Regional title with a time of 2:00.12, took third in the 1600 meter run and fourth in the 3200 meter run. Also in the boys competition Canon Karn earned a spot at State by placing fourth in the triple jump and Andrew Harrison placed third in the discus. Holton girls were led by Regan Baum and Saydee Tanking who placed fourth in the 100 meter hurdles and third in the javelin, respectively. 

Four athletes qualified for State for Atchison with their performances at Regionals. Adalynn Collins earned second place in both the girls 1600 and 3200 meter runs, while Talia Rawls placed second in the 200 meter dash. For the boys competition Alex Martin finished third in the 200 meter dash and Austin Detimore took fourth in the 100 meter dash. 

Class 4A State competition will take place with the rest of the classes on Friday and Saturday, May 25th-26th in Wichita at Cessna stadium.
