Hiawatha Girls and Boys Cross Country Teams Win Horton Invite

2018 Horton Cross Country Invitational – Results.

The high school cross country season continued last Thursday night as Horton hosted an invitational, and it was the Hiawatha girls and boys teams each taking first place.

The Redhawks finished with four runners inside of the top 15 on the boys side, led by Justin Hodge who won the race for the second straight year with a time of 17:26.75.

Hiawatha also had Liam Jones and Carson Gilbert take seventh and 13th, respectively, while Andrew Lierz rounded out top 20 finishers for the Redhawks taking 15th.

The Sabetha boys also had a strong showing in the meet finishing second as a team, with Henry Glynn leading the way taking fourth with a time of 17:52.09. Kaden Dillon also finished inside of the top five for the Bluejays, as he finished right behind Glynn in fifth with a time of 18:02.21.

Maur Hill-Mount Academy and Jackson Heights also each had guys finish inside of the top 15, as the Ravens had Ayden Black take third and William Humburg 14th while the Cobras saw Daniel Little take second.

McLouth also rounded out the day with a runner inside of the top 15, as Jared Plake took eighth with a time of 18:19.37.

On the girls side the Hiawatha girls took second place behind three top 15 finishes, as Elizabeth Kettler led the way once again taking the top spot with a time of 20:18.65.

The Redhawks also had Kate Madsen take ninth, while Mary Rosa finished 12th.

The Sabetha girls finished third as a team with two top 15 finishers as Hattie Lukert took second with a time of 20:19.40, while Skylar McAfee finished 15th.

Jackson Heights also had two runners finish inside of the top 15 as Faith Little took fifth Annie Allen 11th, while McLouth and ACCHS rounded out the top 15 finishers with the Bulldogs represented by Reagan Clark who took fourth and the Tigers by Victoria Caplinger who finished 12th.
