Two teams entered Friday Night in Sabetha, Kansas, both looking to remain unbeaten in District Play and take over the top spot. Both Sabetha and Holton looked to the run game to get the upper hand on the other one. However the Bluejays defense would be the deciding factor, on the outcome of the game. They used the, “Bend but Don't Break”, mentality throughout the entire game on their way to a 31-0 win over Big 7 League foe Holton.

Sabetha started with the football and got only 19 yards on just six plays before having to punt it away. Holton then ran just three plays and have to punt it right back to Sabetha. On Sabetha's second drive they fumbled the football, and Holton recovered. They again forced a three and out on their 2nd drive and that let Sabetha go 9 plays, 55 yards before Gabe Garber would run it from 4 yards out to score the 1st touchdown of the game, 7-0.

On Holton's 3rd drive of the game they would get to the Sabetha 4 yardline, but would stall out, and turn the ball over on 4th down. Sabetha would then take the ball 97 yards on 8 plays, for Gruber to run it in for the score from 2 yards out, 14-0 Holton again would be forced to punt after running just 4 plays. Sabetha would get the ball right at the 50 yardline, where on just 1 play, Gabe Garber would connect with Ryan Stapleton for the 50 yard touchdown pass, 21-0.

Holton would start with the ball in the 2nd half, but after 4 plays be forced to punt. Sabetha would then go for it on 4th down but be turned away, and the ball would be given back to Holton. However Holton would then turn it over on downs after 6 plays. After 12 plays Sabetha would get 3 points on a long Field Goal attempt by Braeden Cox, 24-0. Hotlon again would turn the ball over on downs, which would give Sabetha the chance to run just 5 plays, before Joe Gruber would take it 11 yards for his 2nd touchdown run of the game and the final score of the game 31-0.

Holton would finish the game with 159 Total Yards in the game. 134 of those yards would come on the ground, the other 25 would come through the air. Leading the Wildcats was Trey Wright who carried the ball 13 times for 69 yards. Kolby Rousch would tote the ball 16 times for 52 yards. Cale Purcell would carry it 3 times for 15 yards.

Sabetha would finish the game with 342 Total Yards. 237 of those yards came on the ground, and the other 105 yards came through the air. Leading the Bluejays was Senior Joe Gruber who had 20 carries for 139 yards and 2 touchdowns. Tristen Edelman would have 7 totes for 19 yards. Junior Gabe Garber would have 11 carries for 73 yards and 1 rushing touchdown. Through the air Garber would go 6 of 11 for 105 yards and 1 touchdown, which was the 50 touchdown pass to Senior Ryan Stapleton, who finished the game with 3 receptions for 89 yards and the touchdown catch. Braeden Cox would also have the 3 pt field goal attempt and make in the ball game.

Next week the Holton Wildcats (3-3) Overall and (2-1) will return home for the matchup against a very talented Marysville Bulldogs team. Sabetha (6-0) Overall and (3-0) in District play will be at home again next week to take on the Red Raiders of Wamego.
