Five Area Teams Highlight Week One Kansas Basketball Coaches Association Rankings

Week 1 KBCA – Rankings

Week one of the 2019-20 high school basketball season has come and gone and with that the Kansas Basketball Coaches Association has released the first regular season rankings of year which features five area teams.

Just one area boys’ team is ranked after week one and it comes in Class 3A with the Hiawatha boys ranked eighth after a dominant 78-21 win over ACCHS Saturday evening to begin the year.

On the girl’s side of the 3A rankings two area teams continue to be ranked and both from the Big 7 League as Royal Valley is still at No. 1 after a 45-30 win over Perry Lecompton while Nemaha Central is third following a 61-39 win over Centralia.

In Class 2A the Jefferson County North girls are the only area team ranked as the Chargers have moved up three spots to No. 6 following a 62-53 win over Jackson Heights.

The final ranked area team comes in Class 1A with the Frankfort girls still at No. 10 following a 55-32 win over Pawnee City to begin the season.
