It was the second meeting of the year between Twin Valley League county rivals on Thursday night and D-West and Troy tuned up for the upcoming TVL Tournament.  While the D-West girls won big again, the Troy boys avenged an early season five-point loss against the Mustangs and won their second game in three days this week.

GIRLS = Doniphan West 65, Troy 28

Doniphan West scored the first 13 points of the game over the opening six minutes and never looked back.  The Mustangs led 16-5 after one quarter and 35-12 at halftime while forcing a running clock in the fourth quarter.

Troy was coming off a 59-point game earlier this week in a win against Onaga, but struggled shooting the ball on Thursday night and had 19 turnovers. Reagen Hill and Macy Norris each scored six points as the Lady Trojans fell to 2-6 on the season.

Myah Olson hit five three-pointers to score a game high 15 points while Chloe Clevenger addded nine. Heidi Leach and Makinley Smith both had eight points as D-West had 11 players score and improved their record to 6-4 on the year.

After an early tie at five apiece, Troy went on an 11-0 run to close the first quarter and would maintain a double-digit lead and the remainder of the night.  The Trojans led 34-12 at halftime and forced a running clock in the fourth period.  D-West was plagued by 22 turnovers.

The Mustangs got nine points from Lafe Blevins while Fletcher Penny added eight and Trent Spiker chipped in seven.  D-West fell to 2-8 on the season.

Griffin Weber capped a brilliant week with a 23 point night following up his 18-point, seven steal outing against Onaga.  Jerrit Norris had his second double-double of the week with 13 points and 11 rebounds while Camden Anderson hit a trio of treys and added 11 points.  Troy had only nine turnovers and improved to 2-6 on the season with their second straight win in the TVL.
