Seven Area Teams Featured in Jan. 28 KBCA Rankings

Mid-Season high school basketball tournaments took place last week with several upsets around the area and with other tournaments set to take place this week the Kansas Basketball Coaches Association released the latest state rankings featuring seven area teams.

The Class 3A girls’ rankings continue to house two Big 7 League with Nemaha Central still ranked No. 1 heading into the Wellsville Invitational at 9-0 while Sabetha is fifth with a 10-1 record after winning the Burlington Invitational on Saturday.

A new team is into the 3A rankings on the boy’s side as Maur Hill-Mount Academy checks in at No. 10 despite suffering their first two losses of the season last week in the McLouth Invitational.

In the girl’s 2A rankings two teams continue to be in the top 10 with the Jeff County North Chargers sixth at 9-0 while Valley Heights is eighth at 8-1 after claiming the Twin Valley League Tournament over the weekend.

The final two ranked teams come in Class 1A with the Hanover girls ranked fifth at 10-1, while the Valley Falls boys are seventh with a 10-2 record on the year.
