Mid-Season high school basketball tournaments wrapped up for area teams Saturday afternoon and at the Jeff County North Girls Invitational it was the host Chargers claiming the tournament title defeating Perry Lecompton in the championship 58-50.

Both offenses started fast with the Chargers racing out to a 21-14 lead after one behind seven points from Kinsey Schneider and five from Madison Vaught.

JCN then pushed their lead to as many as nine in the second quarter, but Perry Lecompton battled back with five first half 3-pointers including four from Campbell Keller to pull within 31-26 at the break.

The Kaws pushed that momentum into the third quarter where they took the lead and even got up by as many as 10 points before Jeff County North pulled within six going into the fourth quarter.

From there it was the Josie Weishaar show as the standout senior scored 13 points in the fourth quarter including a perfect 6-of-6 effort from the free throw line to carry the Chargers to the victory.

Weishaar tied for the game-high with 19 points including a 10-of-11 effort from the charity stripe while Kinsey Schneider added 15.

Perry Lecompton was led by Blaise Ball who finished with 19 points while Campbell Keller added 18 on six 3-pointers and Jenna Keller 11.

The Chargers with the win improved to a perfect 12-0, while Perry Lecompton moved to 7-4.

3rd Place Game: ACCHS 31, Oskaloosa 30

Despite having just three players find the scoring column the ACCHS Tigers did just enough to pull out a win in the third-place game over Oskaloosa 31-30.

Both offenses struggled throughout with ACCHS holding a 16-13 lead at the half behind seven first half points from freshman Aleah Wallisch and six more from Addison Schletzbaum

Oskaloosa continued to make it close and trailed by just one going into the fourth, but in the fourth Schletzbaum hit two big buckets and scored five points to hold off a late spurt by the Bears.

In the win ACCHS was led by Wallisch who finished with 13 points while Schletzbaum added 11 and Natalie Nitz with seven.

Oskaloosa was led by Sophia Rockhold who finished with 15 points on 6-of-8 shooting from the free throw line.

ACCHS improved to 7-6 with the victory while Oskaloosa dropped to 6-6 on the year.
