Corning Sweeps Sabetha Behind Perfect Game

In one of the more impressive sweeps this season Corning took a pair of games from Sabetha by scores of 9-0 and 2-1.

Game one was all Kamble Haverkamp as he pitched a perfect game and added a pair of hits including a solo homer.

Corning jumped to a 2-0 lead after two innings on a 2-run bomb by Ethan McNally before plating five runs in the third to take control.

Haverkamp then shut down Sabetha throwing the perfect game in five innings of work with four strikeouts.

He was also 3-for-3 at the plate with two runs scored and the home run, while Austin Holthaus, Quinn Buessing and McNally each added two RBI.

Game two was a pitchers dual with Corning’s only offense coming in the second inning on a two-run shot by Presly Bowers.

Sabetha got a run back in the third on an RBI from Braden Argabright, but the pitching combination of Zach Fischer and Drew Gibbs held off the Raptors in the final innings.

Marysville Takes Two from Hiawatha

Taking advantage of multiple Hiawatha mistakes Marysville was able to pick up a sweep Wednesday night by scores of 11-7 and 3-0.

Game one Marysville took advantage of eight Hiawatha errors and seven walks to score five runs in the sixth to erase a 7-6 deficit and win 11-7.

Ben Kirkland had big game at the plate going 3-for-4 with a run scored while Ayden Price was 2-for-4 with an RBI.

Gabe Corbett and Joel Bryan each collected two RBI in the loss for Hiawatha.

Game two was the Jon Haggard show on the mound as he threw a complete game shutout allowing just one hit while striking out four.

Jonny Crome and Storm Slupianek each collected RBI for Marysville who had just three total hits in the contest.
