Seven Area Wrestlers Qualify for 321A State Wrestling

State tournament berths were on the line Saturday at Marion High School for area athletes in Classes 321A and seven local wrestlers finished in the top four of their respective weight class advancing to state this coming weekend.

The Sabetha Bluejays finished sixth as a team and qualified four for state led by a third-place finish from Cullen Wikle at 113 pounds along with a trio of third place finishes by Colin Menold at 126 pounds, Cole Hinton at 138 and Josh Herrman at 170.

Pleasant Ridge and Nemaha Central each added a single state qualifier with the Rams Nate Wilburn taking fourth at 120 pounds and the Thunder’s John Langill at 113.

The lone sub-state champion came from ACCHS who had Mason Scholz claim the 132-pound title to qualify for state.

These qualifiers now get set for the state meet this Saturday which is scheduled to take place at Fort Hays State University and scheduled to get underway at 12-noon.
