Maybe both teams were a little bit tight and started slow playing in the 4A Sub State in Atchison on Wednesday with their season now on the line. Holton Senior, Saydee Tanking,, missed a few early shots and two free throws before a frustrated sigh and hand clap heading to the defensive end. But following four lead changes with the Wildcats ahead just 12-9 entering the second period, Tanking caught fire and propelled her team to a 62-30 victory, scoring a career high 29 points in the win.

Tanking hit three treys and scored 13 points during a 17-5 second quarter which had Holton ahead 29-14 at halftime. The Wildcats then put the game away with a 25 point outburst in the third frame to force a fourth quarter running clock. Tanking made all six three-pointers for the Cats on the night while Macey Patch added 9 points and Lindsey Wisdom and Emma Barnett both chipped in six in Holton's highest scoring output of the season. They improved to 10-11 overall with their fifth win in the last six games and will take a four-game win steak to Wamego on Saturday in the Sub-State Championship game at 3:00 PM.

Atchison ended their season 8-7 and was led by Katie Harris with 11 points and Presley Simpson adding 10. The Lady Red however were hurt by 24 turnovers on the night.
