Topeka Capitol Journal Releases All-State Basketball Teams

Cap Journal All-State Selections – Girls & Boys

The final postseason awards have been released for the high school basketball season as the Topeka Capitol Journal released their all-state awards for the year featuring several local athletes.

On the girl’s side in Class 4A the Atchison Lady Red were represented by senior Katy Harris who earned a third team all-state selection.

In Class 3A four local girls earned all-state honors including two on the second team in Royal Valley’s Mahpiya Irving and Sabetha’s Melinna Schumann while the Lady Jays also had Leah Renyer earn a nod on the third team along with Nemaha Central’s Cassidy Corby.

Just one local girl highlighted the 2A all-state team by the Cap Journal as Valley Heights’ Emma Yungeberg earned a first team nod.

In 1A-DI three local girls were named second team all-state selections in Frankfort’s Mariah Broxterman, Doniphan West’s Chloe Clevenger and Jackson Heights’ Amaya Marlatt.

The girl’s all-state teams are rounded out in 1A-II with two local selections as Wetmore’s Kenzie Strathman and Hanover’s Ceegan Atkins each earned third team honors.

On the boy’s all-state teams, the Holton Wildcats had the lone Class 4A selection as Kale Purcell earned a second team nod.

In Class 3A again just one local athlete earned honors as Royal Valley’s Nahcs Wahwassuck was named a first team selection.

Two guys were named to the all-state teams in Class 2A as Washington County’s Kobe Hoover was named a second team selection while Valley Heights’ Cameron Beardsley came in on the third team.

All-State selections were rounded out in 1A with Troy’s Jerrit Norris earning a third team selection in division one while Hanover Emmitt Jueneman earned a first team nod and Jacob Jueneman a second team selection in division two.
