The Jackson Heights Cobras and ACCHS Tigers met up Tuesday night and played to a split with the Cobra girls staying perfect with a 47-28 win while the Tiger boys won the night cap 50-36.

GIRLS

The girl’s game was looked at as the potential league championship game by many with both teams 7-0 in league play but Jackson Heights forced 20 turnovers and showed why they are ranked sixth in Class 2A.

Jackson Heights started quick jumping out to a 12-6 lead after one forcing ACCHS into six turnovers while Kanyon Olberding notched five points.

Olberding scored four more in the second to push the Cobras lead up to 24-14 at the half before putting the game away with six points in the third which allowed Jackson Heights to open a 17-point lead going into the fourth.

ACCHS tried to creep back into the game with a couple of buckets to trim the lead to 14, but that is as close as they would get suffering from 20 total turnovers in the game.

Olberding led the Cobras (8-0) with 17 points and was named our Player of the Game on KNZA Radio while Rebekah Hutfles added nine.

ACCHS (8-1) in the loss was led by Aleah Wallisch who was a bright spot scoring 11 points while Natalie Nitz added eight.

BOYS

The boy’s game was close early on Tuesday before ACCHS used a big second quarter to build a lead and never look back.

The game was tied at 10 points after one quarter, but the Tigers outscored the Cobras 19-7 in the second and forced nine turnovers in the quarter to build a 29-17 lead at the half.

The Tigers were able to extend their lead to 16 points going into the fourth quarter and kept the Cobras at arm’s length the rest of the way.

Kieran Courter led the Tigers with 13 points in the win being named our Player of the Game on KNZA Radio while Coltin Myers added 10.

Jackson Heights had Jason Bosley scored 21 points in the loss while the Cobras turned it over 25 times.

Next up for ACCHS (4-5) is a road game at Pleasant Ridge on Friday while Jackson Heights (2-6) will host Horton.
