Jeff West Win Final Flurry Wrestling Tourney as Many Area Teams Have Top Performers

The 2013 Final Flurry wrestling tourney hosted by Atchison was highlighted by many Kanzaland area wrestlers having success on the mat with 13 of the 14 weight classes being won by a wrestlers from a Kanzaland area school.

The top four team performances all were area wrestling squads as the Tigers of Jeff West lead the way with 178 total points on the day taking first out of 13 teams competing in the action. Jeff West was lead on the day by five individual champions. In second place the host school Atchison totaled 140.5 points, they were followed by Oskaloosa in third with 94 points and Doniphan West in fourth with 84 points.

Other team finishes from the area included Immaculata at eighth, Onaga/Centralia at tenth and Horton/Hiawatha at twelfth.

Jeff West on the day finished with five individual champions as Tucker Schreiner (106lbs), Chase Broxterman (113lbs), Nate Holloman (120lbs), Tanner Flint (182lbs) and Justin Scott (220lbs) all won their weight classes. Tigers great performances didn't stop there as Jesse Best (132lbs) and Josiah Dowding (160lbs) each finished second in their weight classes. Kilian North and Colin Brock both grabbed medals in the heavyweight division (285lbs) tallying third and fourth places, respectively. While Sam Shenk added another third place in the 195lbs weight class for Jeff West.

The Redman of Atchison on the day was lead by four individual first place finishes as Cody Calhoon (132lbs), Jeff Wallingford (126lbs), Tyler Harris (160lbs) and Geoffery Vaughn (170lbs) both captured individual crowns in their weight classes. Redman also picked up a second, third and fourth place finish on the day. Andrew Adrian grabbed the second place finish in the 113lbs weight class, while Jordan Drimmel placed third in the 106lb weight class and Kevin Zhang added the fourth in the 195lbs weight class.

For the third place team Oskaloosa there day was highlighted by a individual championship coming at the hands of Dusty Bammes who won the 138lbs weight class. His Bears teammates added four second places also on the day going, too: Mark Nickels (120lbs), Lance Hickman (170lbs), Wyatt Farris (195lbs) and Hunter Knopp (285lbs). 

Doniphan West, too had an individual capture a first place finish, actually they had two do so, as Tristan Speer continued his great season with a first place in the 195lbs weight class and Garrett Dunlap won the 145lbs weight class. Other Mustangs performances highlighting the day included a second place finish for Hunter Idol in the 106lbs weight class.

Immaculata, Onaga/Centralia, Horton/Hiawatha all had multiple top three finishers on the day in the competition. For the Raiders of Immaculata there day was highlighted by a first place finish for Bruce Stanley in the 152lbs weight class, while his fellow grappler, Max Campbell took third in the 145lbs weight class.

Onaga Buffaloes, Dalton Blow grabbed a fourth place finish in the 170lbs weight class, while Centralia Panther, Andrew Beck captured a second place finish in the 132lbs weight class. Horton/Hiawatha squad was lead by third place finishes by Little Bear Johnson and Kristan Costa in the the weight classes of 220lbs and 113lbs, respectively.
