It took K-State about 30 minutes of game time to heat up, but K-State got it done during a bizarre 1:30 tip time on Wednesday in Bramlage Colliseum against Radford with a final score of 73-65.

In the first half, the Wildcats and Highlanders went back and forth. K-State junior forward Nae’Qwan Tomlin helped the Cats with an impressive 11-point first half. Senior guard Desi Sills also made some big threes as well. He finished his game with ten points.

K-State would end up with a 31-28 lead at the break, and Radford would hang tough for the first ten minutes of the second half. Then, Tomlin took the game over with high-flying dunks and strong finishes in the paint. He added on 15 more points in the final 20 minutes.

Radford showed that they are going to be a formidable opponent in the Big South this year as they made a late rally at the end of the game to give the Cats a late scare. K-State’s largest lead was 17 points with 5:53 left, but the Highlanders outscored them 19-10 in the remaining minutes.

Tomlin would lead the Cats with a career-high 26 points and nine rebounds. If you tune in to SportsCenter tonight, you will likely see a dunk of his on their Top Ten list. Which one of the dunks that makes the list is to be determined, but they will have a plethora to choose from.

Senior forward Keyontae Johnson won Big 12 Newcomer of the Week and had a modest 16-point performance with seven rebounds. It was one of his more forgettable games, though, as he shot just 6-for-15 from the floor. Johnson surpassed the 1,000-point mark in his collegiate career.

Senior point guard Markquis Nowell didn’t get many good looks in the win as he only put up six shots with three going in. He ended up with a ho-hum double-double with ten points and 11 assists.

K-State improves to 11-1 for the regular season and win their fifth game in a row.

The Wildcats have wrapped up their non-conference play prior to their first Big 12 game, which will be on New Years Eve at 6 p.m.
