Top 10 Moments of 2022: No. 10 - State Wrestling Participants

There was a great showing in 2022 of area athletes at the State Wrestling Tournaments.

We’ll start with the 4-1A Girls Tournament as Oskaloosa had two State Champions. Holly Thacher at 101 and Allison King at 155.

Holton posted three top-six finishes with Gracie Gallagher sixth place at 132, Piper Robinson fifth at 115 and Sadie Walker with a third place finish at 143.

There was a great showing for the boys at both the 4A and 3-2-1A Tournaments.

Jefferson West had Keaton Shelman who picked up a 5th place finish in 4A at 182 pounds as he won four matches. 

Also in 4A, Holton had a trio of state placers as Jayden Fletcher finished second place at 160 pounds, Dalton Roush won four matches to place third at 220 as a sophomore and Tucker Gilliland won three matches to earn sixth place. 

Sixth place finishes for multiple athletes in 3-2-1A which included Carter Trimble of Marysville at 126 pounds and Beau Wassenburg of Marysville at 195 pounds.

Also, Oskaloosa’s Justin Miller at 285 pounds, Kellen Menold of Sabetha at 113 pounds and Jonathan Renyer of Sabetha at 152 pounds.
