KBCA Releases Latest Rankings --- February 4th

With only a few weeks left of the regular season teams are looking to finish off the final stretch of the regular season with momentum headed into postseason action at the end of this month. The KBCA has released its latest set of rankings with 15 teams from the area in the rankings.

Most of the teams in this week's set of rankings have been in the rankings a majority of the year or at least the last few weeks. (Full Feb. 4th KBCA rankings -- click here

Starting off in Class 4A, were only one team continues to be ranked this season that being the lady Wildcats of Holton who are 14-1 on the season after a 3-0 week this past week, including a crushing 66-7 win over Concordia on the road. Holton remains at number one in the ranks as they have for the past few weeks.

Class 3A, four area teams find themselves in the rankings with two unbeaten boys teams continuing to highlight the rankings. Both the Nemaha Valley Raiders and ACCHS Tigers remained unbeaten this week with two wins each, both improving to 15-0 on the season. Both the Raiders and Tigers stayed put in the rankings this week at number two and four, respectively. Nemaha Valley took down Sabetha and Santa Fe Trail in their two matchups and ACCHS beat Valley Falls and Riverside.

On the girls side of the Class 3A rankings the lady Tigers of ACCHS remained ranked this week checking in at number eight with an 13-2 record. Tigers like their counterparts the boys beat Valley Falls and Riverside, two other top teams in the DVL, this past week. The Sabetha Bluejays jumped back into the rankings this week coming in at number ten after a 3-0 week beating league foes, Nemaha Valley, Royal Valley and Perry Lecompton to improve to 11-4 on the season.

In Class 2A, the area teams in the rankings are all from the ladies side with Washington County and Jefferson County North continuing to highlight the rankings. For the Tigers they remained unbeaten on the season at a perfect 15-0 on the year after a 68-20 win over Rock Hills in a non-league matchup. For the Chargers they cruised past Pleasant Ridge and Doniphan West this past week with a pair of 30+ point wins, to move to 13-2 on the season.

Class 1A-Division I has four teams ranked with three coming on the boys side. The Panthers of Centralia continue to win, as they have won six straight and are 10-1 since the holiday break, going 3-0 this past week with wins over Hanover, Blue Valley-Randolph and Marysville, to improve to 12-4 this season. Centralia checks in this week at number five again in the polls, then is followed by Valley Heights at number six who is 11-4 on the year and Hanover who is also 11-4 on the year, who ranks eighth. Valley Heights beat Wetmore last week and lost to Wamego, while Hanover lost to Centralia and beat Wetmore this past week.

For the girls side of the 1A-Division I rankings only the lady Mustangs of Valley Heights are ranked from the area as they are 11-4 on the season after beating Wetmore last week and falling to Wamego.

Four more TVL teams are ranked in Class 1A-Division II, two in the girls poll and two in the boys poll. On the girls side the B&B Falcons and Frankfort Wildcats continue to be ranked this season. For B&B they are 13-3 on the season behind a 54-37 win over Frankfort this past week. While Frankfort lost to B&B this past week they did beat Onaga on the road, to move their record to 10-5 on the season. B&B ranks fourth this week and Frankfort comes in at seventh.

On the boys side the B&B Falcons and Axtell Eagles remained ranked this week, also. B&B topped Frankfort on the road 41-27 to move to 11-5 on the season and is ranked eighth this week. For the Axtell Eagles they moved to 10-6 this season with a 55-36 TVL win over Clifton-Clyde to earn their first official league win of the season. Axtell ranks tenth this week in the latest KBCA rankings.
