The Troy softball team dominated ACCHS at home on Monday afternoon by a final score of 15-0 in three innings with starting pitcher Paityn Engemann giving up no hits.

Engemann also had seven strikeouts against the nine batters she faced while giving up just one baserunner via base on balls.

The Central Arkansas commit was also 2-for-2 at the plate with three runs, an RBI double and a two-RBI single. She added two stolen bases and scored all three times she got on base.

Troy first baseman Cayley Grable also had three RBI with a pair of doubles. She finished her day going 2-for-3 with a run.

Center fielder Harper Whetstine went 2-for-2 with a double, a single and three runs.

Third baseman Gracy McConnaughey was the last of four Trojans with multiple hits. She had an RBI triple in the first inning and an RBI double in the third inning. She also walked once and scored twice.

Troy was able to keep their perfect season and their remarkable hitting statistics going with 12 hits in 22 at bats which gave them a batting average of .545 for the afternoon.

Every batter in the hitting order reached base safely at least once and only one batter didn’t reach base safely twice.

After a state title appearance a year ago, Troy is currently headed on that trajectory once again with a terrific start to the 2023 season.

Up next, they will square off against Doniphan West at home on Thursday afternoon.

As for ACCHS, they will try to get their first win of the season on Thursday at home against Pleasant Ridge.
