Two hits and no runs batted in was enough for Perry-Lecompton to get a win on the road against Sabetha on Monday afternoon by a final score of 1-0.

In the top of the seventh inning with the game scoreless, senior center fielder Gunnar Ball got one of their just two hits for a double with one out.

A groundout off the bat of junior first baseman Cayden Byers advanced Ball over to third. It looked like the Kaws needed a third hit to secure the first run of the contest, however, that was not the case. A wild pitch from Sabetha starting pitcher Christian McAfee allowed him to score.

Sabetha still had an opportunity to extend the game into extras with junior center fielder Marcus Bauman doubling with one out and McAfee reaching via base on balls.

Kaws head coach Kent Houk made the decision to pull their starting pitcher Tristan Norwood from the game one out away from securing the win.

With runners on second and third, sophomore Eli Dean got a strikeout to end the threat and the ballgame.

McAfee was wonderful all afternoon and it was unfortunate that a wild pitch decided the outcome of the ballgame instead of a clutch base hit. The right-hander went the full seven innings and gave up just two walks and two hits with the one earned run while striking out four batters.

Norwood pitched a solid six-and-two-thirds shutout innings while surrendering just two walks and six hits with an additional seven strikeouts.

Sabetha will try to get back right next Monday at Holton, and Perry-Lecompton will hope to keep things rolling in the KCC Tournament beginning this Thursday.
