K-Preps have updated their football rankings as we're down to Sub-State Championship games this week.

Axtell (11-0) remains the top team in 8M-II after they mercy ruled Osborne in their last game at halftime 54-6. The Eagles have won a state-best 37 games in a row as they look for their third straight State Championship.

#3 Frankfort (9-2) will be standing in Axtell's way of getting back to the State Championship game. The Wildcats beat Hanover in the quarterfinals last week 38-12 to advance to the Sub-State round against Axtell. Axtell and Frankfort played on October 13th with Axtell winning that game 46-0.

The Jefferson County North Chargers (10-1) moved up to #4 in Class 1A after they beat powerhouse Olpe on Friday night 52-0. It's the first time in school history that JCN has made the Sub-State round. They'll travel to #1 and undefeated St. Marys Colgan for their Sub-State Championship game this week.

For a second straight season, we will have a Big 7 battle in the Sub-State round as #1 Nemaha Central (11-0) will host #3 Sabetha (10-1). The Thunder pulled away in the second half to beat Osage City last week 53-27 while the Bluejays took care of Humboldt in their matchup 49-18. These two played in the regular season finale on October 20th at Sabetha with the Thunder winning that game 28-0.

Holton (7-4) enters the rankings in 3A this week at #5 as the Wildcats beat Frontenac last week 35-22 to make their fourth straight Sub-State game. Holton will travel and play at #3 Hayden this week which is a rematch from a game on October 13th in which Hayden won 24-7 despite being outgained by Holton.
